A visit to Cern

Sam and Lisa from The School Travel Company team took a visit to Geneva and Cern to experience what schools see and do on a visit here. What an incredible place to go on a school trip and we were really impressed with the accommodation and restaurant.

We wanted to explore the city and see our main visit we book for schools which is Cern. We arrived at Geneva airport and found that the transport was very easy to use. Lots of easy to read information telling us where to go to get our train into central

Geneva Day 1 –

Once we arrived at our Accommodation (Geneva Hostel) we checked in and familiarised ourselves wit the local area. We enjoyed a cake and hot chocolate in the local bakery. Geneva hostel is very central and our main accommodation for trip to Geneva. It has a great lobby where schools can meet each morning. We had our evening meal at Holy cow Burger restaurant which is fab for students…and yummy!

Day 2- We visited Cern

Today we visited Cern, The European Organization for Nuclear Research, we received our transport cards from the hostel for our duration and these really helped as its very easy to get around using their local transport. The transport cards are free for all school groups! With regards to Cern, schools need to book directly and the slots open 9 months in advance. Cern is around a 15 minute tram journey out of Geneva and a great visit to experience! The afternoon we headed back into Geneva town to see the local culture. We took a boat ride from Lake Geneva to the other side which took about 20 minutes. The weather was shining, and it was a lovely boat ride. Great for schools and fun! On the evening, we had a meal at one of our most popular restaurants “Edelweiss” this is a traditional restaurant which serves great food for schools. We experienced what the schools did and emerged ourselves within the evening entertainment at the restaurant, Local music was being played throughout the meal with a local musician.

Day 3 – Red Cross Museum

Today we visited the Red cross museum which is central, its also right next to United nations which again is another popular visit for all schools. We then headed back home.
