Early Day Motion in support of LOtC!

After discussions with the School Travel Forum, MP, Bob Russell as tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament supporting Learning outside the classroom (Lotc) and the quality badge.
The council for Learning Outside the Classroom, believe that every young person (0-19yrs) should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.
The Early Day Motion 2111 promotes this vital role and has been tabled to draw attention to the perceived barriers for schools organising trips which include fears over health and safety, lack of status of learning outside the classroom in Ofsted inspections and bureaucratic rules tying teachers to the classroom, and to the solutions to overcome them.
The motion also calls for Government to do more to promote the role of the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (LOtC QB). The Quality Badge provides for the first time a national accreditation combining the essential elements of provision – learning and safety – into one easily recognisable and trusted Quality Badge for all types of LOtC provider organisations. The motion also calls for there to be a greater status of LOtC in Ofsted inspections.

School trips and ‘Red Tape’

The BBC (amongst others) are reporting that the Education Secretary Michael Gove is vowing to ‘slash red-tape’ for school trips abroad and here in the UK. There is of course an easy way to avoid the vast majority of red-tape – use a reputable, Quality-Badged, ABTA-bonded operator with 30 years experience in the school trip market….

Reviews of school trips

Did you know, 100% of our clients in 2011 would recommend us to another school! See below for the nice things teachers are telling us…
The service was fantastic from start to finish. The trip was a huge success and a brilliant way to end the school year. I was so impressed that I am planning a further trip next year. Thank you for all the help.
SH, Paris, June

Really good value for money and took the stress out of me organising every visit. May consider actually booking in with Science Museum next time rather than just a self guided visit.___
NW, London and Normandy, March
FANTASTIC.
We are delighted with all the arrangements you put in place and as I have pointed out some minor glitches occurred but they were so minimal that we would not be discouraged from organising another trip to London. While I am obliged by our school policy to seek quotes for future trips, for support, organisation and value for money I would be happy to recommend you to any of my colleagues and would hope that we can work with you again in the very near future. Look out for quote requests from us at the end of October for next June!!!!
LG, London, June

The trip was fantastic. Everything went like clockwork and the children (and staff!) had a fantastic time. Thank you!
JL Edinburgh, May
