Lord Young of Graffham has been appointed to bring some 'common sense' back into Health and Safety - including on school trips.  He said that "We get teachers not taking pupils out on day trips because of all of the forms they have to fill in. My job is to really put commonsense back in and deregulate it.”  You could of course choose to travel with an LOtC Quality Badged organisation and cut down the number of forms that way....The School Travel Company has the badge - and we've been involved from the very start.

'Rarely-Cover'. The Telegraph today quoted a DCSF spokesman on the rarely cover provisions; “Rarely cover is there to ensure that teachers do just that – rarely cover – allowing them to be freed from tasks which do not require their professional skills and expertise, and to focus on teaching. “Learning outside the classroom should be an integral part of every child's education and personal development, and provision for it should be included in school calendars and timetables."

After four years of exceptional growth, The School Travel Company today unveiled its new website.  As well as being the fastest growing school trip provider in the UK, we're also the ONLY British Safety Council approved training centre in the school travel market.  Manager Tim Chadwick said - "Every single member of our staff is a qualified Health and Safety practitioner. Along with our Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge, I hope this will help reassure teachers that we can offer them a safe, properly risk-assessed and affordable school trip for their pupils"
